Rt. Rev. Prof. Joshua Danso Owusu-Sekyere attended Adisadel College where he completed his “O” and “A” Levels. He completed his BSc (Agricultural Engineering) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He was appointed a Senior Research Assistant in the Agricultural Engineering Department, University of Cape Coast in 1992. He obtained a Certificate of Proficiency in Chinese Language from the Beijing Language and Cultural University in 1995. He obtained a MSc (Irrigation and Drainage Engineering) and a Post Graduate Certificate (Project Management) form Hohai University in Nanjing, China in 1998. Prof. Owusu-Sekyere was appointed a Lecturer in the Agricultural Engineering Department in 1999. He obtained his PhD in Agricultural Engineering from Cranfied University, UK in 2006, and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2007. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2010 and Full Professor in 2012. Prof Owusu-Sekyere has served as Head of the Agricultural Engineering Department and Vice Dean, School of Agriculture. Prof. Owusu-Sekyere was named best Agricultural Engineering Professor in 2012 and also awarded Quintessential Project Management Icon in 2012.
Prof Owusu-Sekyere was a member of the independent Proposal Evaluators for the World Bank Centers of Excellence for East and Southern Africa in 2015. He was also a team leader for site visits to institutions in East and Southern Africa under the Africa Centres of excellence. He is the team leader for the team developing a proposal for a School of Engineering at the University of Cape Coast. He was a member of the Ghana Agriculture Public Expenditure Review Team in 2012. He has presented papers at academic conferences in many countries, has over sixty (60) peer reviewed journal articles to his credit and authored a number of books.
Prof. Owusu-Sekyere’s research interests are: Deficit Irrigation, Water table control for crop production, Climate Change and crop water use.
Rt. Rev. Prof. Owusu-Sekyere planted and had oversight of Harvest Chapel Bedford and Harvest Chapel Wellingborough, UK, from 2002-2006. He Pastored Harvest Chapel, University of Cape Coast between 2007 and 2010. He planted and pastored Glorious Family of Faith from 2010 to 2013. He was appointed National Overseer of Word of Faith Mission in 2013 and consecrated Bishop, Word of Faith Mission, Ghana and Apostolic Pastoral Congress, Cape Coast in 2015.
Prof. Owusu-Sekyere is married to Bernice Owusu-Sekyere and they have two adorable girls (Pearl and Crystal).
